Default Notebook manufacturer no longer stocks power supply - only 2 years old?

Hi Guys.
The distributor of my notebook (HiGrade) no longer stocks the power supplies for it, even though it's only 2 years (if that) old.

It's my understanding that they're required to have spare parts for 5+ years, correct?

I can possible source it from somewhere else (I hope), however it's the principles that matter in this case....

Ta.

All generics suffer that problem. However look on the bottom youll see the power rating (15V 2.7A of whatever) etc; just pick up a different brand psu (laptop one) off ebay should be fine unless it has some weird plug which it wont being a generic anyhow.

Even if it does have a different plug he can chop the ends of both and swap them, then solder them back up. If he lacks the skills to do so he can post them to me and I'll take care of it.

There's no law or anything that says that as far as I know. However, I do know that Apple keeps spare parts for all their machines for at least 5 years. I don't think any other OEM manufacturer (Dell, HP, IBM) do that.

Targus and Belkin make power supplies for notebooks. They come with a range of power plug adapters that should suit most notebooks.

Parts support is a common problem with generics.

Thanks for the support guys.
I gave Anyware a call on the off chance that they'd have a compatible product... which they did *shock*

It's an "NB 90", manufactured by "FSP". Pretty good unit for a pretty good price. In fact, I picked up 2 of them

So, if anyone has an older notebook, specifically a HiGrade Notino W6700 (Put this here incase anyone else was unfortunate enough to get the same notebook and does a search on it!), give Anyware a shot for power supplies. Now to find a compatible replacement battery. Hrumph...
