Default Day 2 of Blackberry Outage

Well, rang Telstra again today becuase the blackberry gprs is still out.
I told them there was a trickle of emails that came through at abou t5pm last night but nothing since.
They advise that their main link is down, and their backup link has failed due to config mismatch. They also have no ETA but hope it will be resolved tonight...
Just thought I would let everyone know in case you guys also have head huncho's jumping up and down

doesn't matter where you live. When a link is down to the blackberry infrastructure, all of that carrier's blackberry users are affected no matter their location

There's a bit more redundancy than that.

Fuck eh. I have about 100 Blackberry user's in my company. At the time I had to send an email (oh the irony) around saying the service is down.

My understanding is that all emails sent to blackberries go through the RIM network. Apparently the link from the Telstra network to the RIM network was down. I just got the bill yesterday, I wonder how much they refunded for the 2 day outage?

There certainly is redundancy but if Telstra are no longer able to communicate with the RIM infrastructure for whatever reason then everyone using the Blackberry service on the Telstra network will be affected,no matter how many redundant lines, spare routers or pedaling moneys

Why do you say that?

I have not had any problems.

well the bes server in adelaide wasn't communicating properly. was fixed just shortly after a post. must have been something small but still but no details were enclosed other than it was affecting a few other customers.

many larger corporate customers get diluted network outage reports so it can be passed on to their various internal customers. You may want to ask telstra if you can be included in this mailing list
