Default Ideas on where to best mount PDA/GPS unit

I've been thinking about getting this PDA car holder for my Dell Axim x50v GPS setup:

http://www.efrontier.com.au/product....eria=&PT_ID=80

I'm likely to get one of those cheapy 16 channel bluetooth GPS receiver from eBay. I drive a 2003 Camry and I'm worried about where to actual mount the PDA so that I can minimise glare (I've heard that the x50v does have quite a bit of glare). With the above car holder I'm likely to mount it from the front windshield rather than low. But i'm also thinking of mounting it lower for less glare.

What other options are available? I don't mind some photos of your set ups if possible....

Also amongst those yumcha brands of GPS receivers on eBay which ones should I go for and which ones should I definitely try to avoid?

Cheers

That holder looks good. built in Charger(!!)* and it has a amplified speaker. I use my x50v for sat nav as well, and whilst internal speaker at full volume can be heard, it'd be very helpful if it was a lot louder. Especially if people are talking / music on.

*(Using the Dell car charger is a bit of a pain when it's mounted on your dash, as the stupid adaptor cable sticks out below the unit, and in my case, obstructs the stereo / air con controls.)

I ordered a Blue tooth Holex GPSslim236 unit direct from the USA. $179US worked out to be around $300AU by the time I got it here. It's based on the new SiRF III Chipset. Similar bluetooth units here for like $500-600 as of 2 months ago when I was shopping for mine.

I got it from http://www.semsons.com/hogpwigpsres.html As far as customs are concerned, this guys did their declaration costs correctly *cough*

Here's a pic of my setup:

As you can see, i'm using the Arkon dash mount that was thrown in with my GPS unit. That position in the centre is the best spot for it I believe. Too low would be too dangerous, at least with it mounted up high you don't have to take your eyes off the road as much. And I can assure you, stupid low battery warnings, Appointments, etc will pop-up from time to time whilst driving! Not to mention just trying to look at the map.

Being vent mounted, I'm not sure how much of a problem it's going to be in summer when the PDA is blocking the air flow from the A/C. Good news in respect to the vent mount is that it's secured on much better than initially suspected. In fact it takes a bit of fiddling to get the thing off. Which is kinda good for any spirited driving. The locking clips on the bracket itself aren't going to fall off very easily.

hahaha I bought a $2 bendy arm 'utility holder' from Crazy Clarks, and mounted that in my car so I can play mp3's from x50v.

worked just fine.

next is Bluetooth Stereo receiver so I don't have wires from pda to amp.

Well I made a mount & charge cradle for my car.

cost me a total of $10
$2 for Cradle ( universal cup/pda/phone holder from super cheap auto's)pulled apart, shortened arms and put back together.
$8 for USB cable from ebay
$power supply from bits I had from some old dead monitors & CPU bits - see here for howto.

I've cleaned it up since this photo taken, so only see x50v connector.
