Hi guys Im having real trouble in deciding what PDA I want
HP4700 pro's- Nice Big screen ,has been givin a good review on most sites, really like this leather case and 5700mAH battery combo link con's- Dont like the touchpad Idea, Ive got that on my notbook and i hate it,Don't like the idea that the cradle does'nt have a spot for chargin an external battery Asus A730W pro's- I like the USB host idea, I think this could come in handy for a bit of extra storage space con's Don't like the idea that the cradle does'nt have a spot for chargin an external battery, battery life is not supposed to be very good Dell X50v pro's- Like the 3d mulitmedia processor (not sure if i realy need it) am able to charge a second battery in the cradle con's- from reviews I've read it has one of the poorest batteries in the VGA range of PDA's any thoughts of the one I should get or are there any other models to have a look at? thanks |

Defiately the dell battery life is not a issue if you get a 2200 mha battery, is by far the best value for money and is fairly small. On the downside the graphics proseser is useless until windows mobile 2005 comes out with some sort of graphics engine.

yeah I did read that the dell was quite good with the 2200 mAH battery, and yeah i suppose i don't really nead the graphics processor will be mainly used for e-mail, limited browsing, MP3's and thats it.
its most likey a toss up between the HP and the ASUS as i can get them quite cheap around $610ex for the HP and $480 for the ASUS. where the dell is gunna costs me around $730 plust extra for the 2200mAH battery, |

$730 for an X50V?? I just got mine (2nd one, lost the first) 2 weeks ago from Dell for around the $580 mark when they had a 20% off discount, which comes around relatively regularly.
2 weeks later, I've owned this PDA longer than my last one :/ |

I'm looking at getting the dell currently, need to go visit one of the dell shops so I can actualy have a play with it. Just found out one of my mates has just got a job as a sales weenie for dell, so hopefully he can get me a decent deal.

I bought (both of) my X50V(s) with an extended 2200mAH battery, and I use it mostly for work. I'm a computer tech and its primary use is for keeping myself ahead of my jobs. But, it's also used for wireless site surveys, wifi hacking shit (and by hacking, I mean fooling around creating home-made long distance wireless nodes etc, not actual cracking-type hacking and unauthorised entry bs), mp3 playing, game emulation etc. Battery life has been fine. I'd expect no more or less taking into account this things power and the battery capacity. I've just been using it for 4 straight days of contact/calendar/tasks work + some minor mp3 playing whilst working late, and I'm only just charging it tonight as it's dipped to 28%. It's fast and responsive. It has all the features I want. If I can get myself the right mobile phone, I'll soon be using it for remote email receival via gprs OR wifi (if I ever get my grandiose scheme of a wireless WAN going in Coffs). As soon as Dell releases the Windows Mobile 05 upgrade I'll be getting that and then it'll be even better. The cradle is a very handy feature with the extra charge station. Even though I RARELY change batteries, at least it is a convenient and easy-to-remember storage area for a battery. Get yourself and several GB sdio card (or two) and not having USB Host isn't even an issue for storage space, which is what I assume most ppl care about USB Hosting for. In short, I like my Dell. One thing that's a bit annoying is the stylus though. It's very small/thin. My hands hate it. Wish it were a touch bigger, or at least contoured. |

From order to delivered it was around 7 to 10 days. Not all that long considering. First one took slightly longer because I ordered a lot of extras with it and they had to "build" my order with all those parts (don't know why it took an extra day or so for that but it still wasn't all that long). I went to Toormina High until finishing my HSC in 1998. And I work for a company in the Jetty named Coffs Coast Computers. Unless you're a business we service you probably haven't heard of us, and with the number of other businesses that have popped up with similar names people get confused as to who we are also :/. |
