HX4700 v Dell X50v
im tossing up between these two PDAs before making a purchase, and i hope your opinions can help me.
i dont mind the price difference between these two units. as i will be salary sacrificing, the difference will be negligible. 1. what is the 4 way controller like on the hx4700? is it a pain to use? i guess im not 100% comfortable with the idea of a "touch pad" type of controller on a pda. 2. i have read that the screen on the hx4700 is alot nicer than the Dell, is this the case? 3. what is the difference in battry life like? 4. i have never seen/played with a dell x50v in real life? what is it like? is it well made? do u think it looks "cooler" than the HP? 5. is there anything else i should be aware of? thanks!! David

I can only offer my opinions on the hx4700. No experience with the Axim whatsoever.
1. Hate the bugger. Haven't found a single use for it where it doesn't get right up my nose. Crap for games, crap for scrolling whilst reading ebooks, crap for volume control and forward/back whilst playing videos. Crap all round. 2. Fantastic screen. Even on half brightness it's streets ahead of every other PDA I've seen. 3. Can't speak for the Axim but I was pleasantly surprised at the battery life with my hx4700 using the bog standard battery. I'd still like an extended battery though. 5. Buy memory cards.. lots of them.. |

i guess your answer to 1. pretty much killed the hx4700 for me as an option looks like i will be getting the dell afterall.
