You can buy a plane mains adapter but most modern plane seats now allow you to plug in directly - well in business class atleast

Yeah, which planes have 12v power sockets, or even 240?
I mean as in economy...

Hey,

I used this service a few weeks ago from Los Angeles - Frankfurt with Lufthansa. It was really good. I only had a PDA though, but i was able to check emails, browse the web, and even connect to a server via terminal services client (For bragging rights) . I paid $27 US for the entire flight, even though my battery died out in 4 hours. Defenitely a good service, i think some ppl on the flight had a spare battery, which is pretty wise if your using the service a lot.

Cheers

Kaviar

Just as a point, with the big scare about planes being blown up in the air (between Britain and America), haven't they now banned laptops in the cabin? Don't they now have to go in the luggage, making in-flight internet utterly useless unless you've got a PDA?

You're not allowed mobiles of any sort so yeah PDAs are no chance.

Its just a knee jerk reactoin tho give it a month and laptops should be allowed again. Besides thats just on UK/US flights every where else is ok.

This was in the age today, its not as bad as it seems. US flights your still allowed laptops/pdas etc, and flying into the UK you are too its just flying out of hte UK. Here is the full list of requirments.

Quote:
■ MELBOURNE AIRPORT is operating as usual with security restrictions affecting only US-bound flights or passengers transferring at Heathrow. Melbourne Airport recommends passengers flying overseas allow additional time for security and check-in procedures and arrive three hours ahead of schedule. Extra security and information staff are on site at Melbourne Airport and security areas have been established to ease congestion and minimise delays.

■ UNITED STATES Passengers departing Melbourne for the US may carry hand luggage, but no liquids or gels. This includes all beverages in any size container, such as bottled water, shampoo, suntan lotion, moisturising creams, toothpaste or hair gel. There are exemptions for baby formula and breast milk, prescription medicine with a name that matches the passenger's ticket, insulin and essential other non-prescription medications. Laptops, mobile phones and digital cameras are allowed. All footwear to be screened prior to departure.

■ UNITED KINGDOM The prohibition on carry-on luggage applies to flights departing the UK only. The restrictions do not affect flights leaving Australia unless passengers are transferring between flights at a UK airport. Passengers connecting with flights at Heathrow are being given the option of complying before leaving Australia to avoid queues and long delays in the UK. Pockets must be empty and carry-on items gathered in a transparent plastic carry bag can include pocket-size wallets and purses with money, credit and identity cards; passports and travel tickets; prescription medicines and medical items sufficient for the flight; spectacles and sunglasses, without cases; contact lens holders, but no solution; baby food, milk and sanitary items such as nappies, wipes, creams and disposal bags; unboxed female sanitary items such as tampons, pads, towels and wipes; tissues (unboxed) and/or handkerchiefs; keys (but no electrical key fobs). Direct flights to London or flights via Asian airports are not affected.

■ NEW ZEALAND Restrictions apply to carry-on luggage for Air New Zealand flights to, through or from the UK and US. Bans include liquids and all items except travel documents, wallets, essential medicines and baby food carried in clear plastic bags. In-flight amenity kits containing toothpaste and brushes, wipes and lip balms will be distributed to all passengers.

■ ASIA Flights from Melbourne to any of the Asian hubs of Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo or Jakarta are unaffected.
