Maybe someone inhere can help me out. I got a P3V4X via ebay to replace my current ECS mobo. The darn thing wont POST. Actually, if i push the power button, nothing happens, even the green LED near the AGP slot doesnt light up. Are there any specific items i should pay attention on, before drawing the conclusion that this board is defective?

1. Make sure your PSU is working
2. If the PSU is working, check that all your cables (esp ATX power) are seated correctly and tightly 3. Download the P3V4X manual from the Asus site and check that you've plugged the power and reset button lead's in the correct polarity. 4. If you still don't get a power light near the AGP slot, the mobo is prolly stuffed! |

Yes sounds like the mobo is not getting power (or enough of it) - hence the green light is off. This usually means a damaged motherboard. Unless you're skilled at electronics, I don't know how you'd track down the actual source of damage.
Jaymons suggestions are probably all you can do. In particular, try a new (or different) PSU, and only install the CPU and RAM and see if the mobo beeps or the light turns on. Good luck.

Hi,
Had some fun when I got my P3V4X a couple of years ago. It's been chuggin' away without any probs though. There was a problem with the mounting points with this board. If you do the mobo mounting screw nearest the AGP slot up too tight, it can short the board. Use fibre washers on all the mounting points. You could just have a dud PSU though. Ohh and on that point, you'll need at least a 300W PSU too. Pike

Just a stab in the dark, but triple check your soft on lead is plugged in the correct spot, straining my memory but doesnt it sit out on its lonesome somewhere on the P3V4X?

Thanks for all the tips. I have done some excessive testing in the mean time and this is what comes out:
1. PSU = Enermax EG365V-PE <- brandnew i tried 3 different PSU's: no luck 2. When the keyboard is plugged in, the 3 leds on it blink if you switch on the PSU ( not the ATX soft-switch but the swith on the PSU) 3. If the keyboard is not connected, the fan of the CPU starts to turn, nothing else happens. Thats it...nothing else happens. I guess this board is ready for the garbage bin

I will add another possibility. Check the floppy power connector is on ALL 4 pins. I accidently put it on 3 and the PC never turned on. It became dead as a dodo.
The fact that the green led is not on is a worry

Do you use a Slotket? Only the ASUS Slotkets S370-133, S370-L and the recommended S370-DL run properly on the P3V-4X. If you don't use an adaptor I would suppose the board to be defective, you hardware configuration really should function on that board...

Nope, genuine Slot1 CPU. I have given up on the board also and will get my money back from the seller. Too bad, i was in search for a P3V4X for a long time, the quest continues, i guess

I still have my old P3V4X in the cupboard, but a shipment from germany would be quite complicated I think...
