Gday all,
My aunty is travelling to hong kong this weekend and as she usually does, she asked me if i wanted her to pick me up anything while she is there... I am really keen to get a DS as some really cool games are coming out soon: Mario Kart Goldeneye: Rogue Agent and Resident Evil Deadly Silence (DS) I have a couple of questions though... 1) If i get a DS from hong kong, will i be able to change the language to english? 2) Will it play Australian Games? 3) Does anyone know how much in $AUD a DS will cost in Hong Kong?? Thank you for taking the time to look at my thread and answers to any of the above questions would be greatly appreciated!! ![]() Cheers HoTDoG |

2) Yes, there is no region lock on the DS 3) Depends on where you shop. Less than $150AUD for sure though. Good choice on the DS. I highly recommend Advance Wars DS.

All the DS's allow you to choose your language from the main menu.
There's no issues with buying Japanese DS's and switching them to English. The only thing you need to do, as mentioned, is buy an aust power adaptor (the Japanese versions are 110V). Don't just buy a plug adaptor, buy a proper Aust 240V DS charger, otherwise you'll blow shit up. Just find out how much you'll save - by the time you buy an adaptor, it might be just as easy to buy one in Oz as there's a price drop to $179 soon (some places are selling at that already), or deals on the 22nd of Sept for $199 with Nintendogs. There's cooler DS colours (black, white and more) available OS though. http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-14-71-9h.html As mentioned, no region encoding on DS games. Not all the cool Japanese games have english language options (Jump! Superstars), and won't appear in the US or Aust due to licensing issues. Doesn't matter for some games, but if the mission objectives are in Japanese, you might struggle... There's also some good accessories available OS too - Hori screen protectors (licensed, and apparently the best) and dust caps (fills all the gaps in the DS - mine arrived today, very cool!). |

If you have a GBA: SP charger, you can use it on the DS too. Save's you from buying a transformer or 230V adaptor if you happen to have one around.
