Default Nuetron Disintegrator Res!

Pardon my madness guys!

i havn't lost it all together, this is a new modded Res for my son's new Martian themed case.

He's looking forward to a new game called Destroy all humans... i thought i do a theme case to match!

starting ...of course from the Res up!

The idea is Zak's he thought a res in the shape of a Neutron Cannon would be cool....

the best i could come up with was this!

Brackets still need to be made.the res lays flat and has be designed with this in mind.

ive posted a worklog here rather than clutter up this forum with worklogs.

Starts with more green!

these will be the outer thingamajig rings! thats will go around the res.

after drilling clear plex hollow rod will be fed thru

The res will sit inside the rings like this

Holes drilled in the ends of the tank

The smaller rod is then bent so it can feed into the holes and allow the coolant to flow thru the smaller outer rods.

the rings are slipped back over the res and outer rods

For the end of the res i wanted a sort of point...

a qik flame polish to mke the routed edge shiny again

then thread tapped

the base will be 10mm thick clear and is cut buy hand and also flamed

Because this RES is designed to Lay flat... a custom "pickup"rod is made..this will allow the outlet to be as close to the floor of the res and avoid trub and bubbles. very similar to a sump.

the pickup rod is bent to shape using heat.

This shows the idea of how the pick now lays along the floor of the res.

Some final glueing is done

All thats left to do is add some barbs and test the Neutron res out

i like the way the outer tubes also fill up with fluid!

I'l fab up some custom plex clamps and post piccys soon!

I'm still amazed at how quickly you finished the Persplexed case mod after what you was done on Saturday.

Thats one lucky kid!

Also, that's an awesome design, is working with perspex hard, or fairly easy?

Perspex isn't terribly hard to work with.. I made a clock face with perspex 2 years ago in design and tech, and I had never done anything with perspex before and had never used one of those bench jigsaws. Something as complex as what Defyant did though maybe much harder though especially with the curves. I guess you'd just use one of them heater things (don't know what they're called) to bend the perspex.

nah its not a heat gun its like a.. long skinny thing... and you lay your perspex on it and has about a 1cm gap (heat) and you leave it there for a while then you take it out and you bend it in that particular spot.
