Hey all,
Im looking at upgrading my optical drive in my Acer Travelmate laptop to a DVD-RW drive, although I dont know if they will fit. Im looking at buying something like the Pioneer K05 or anything like that, but was wondering if anyone has a picture of the rear connector on theirs if they have changed it. Im probably going to order it from a interstate shop, so I cant really take my laptop in to try it out. Thanks.

All Slimline Optical Drives carry the same connector.
Infact I've fitted the Combo drive from a Compaq Workstation into a clients notebook before now. You just have to unscrew all the surroundings and crap. Your main issue will be if the laptop has any shape to the current optical drive, and no way of removing the faceplate on the current drive.

So you think if I purchased the Pioneer K05, it should hook up to my laptop? The shape of it looks the same as the current drive (SBW-242) and all I was worried about was the connector.
Im assuming it will look out of place from the laptop due to the different shape of the front, although Im not worried to much about that.

Sure will, but make sure it wont catch..
Some drives bezels catch when put into other notebooks.
