What about those of us who just like to sit down and play games, not bounce around and wave and shit, That was the problem with I-toy and such for me, I don't want to have to run around the room when I could push some buttons. Gaming for me is relaxation and enjoyment, not throwing my bloody controller around like an idiot.

That being said, I'll give it a go before I pass final judgement, but Nintendo seems to be limiting its self to a very finite market.

Is it just me, or does it seem like its actually lacking some buttons! There only seems to be about 3 on each controller (when using nunchucks thingy)

e.g. if u were to play Halo with that, i don't think there'd be enough buttons to fall under fingers easily.

I'm still quite excited by it though.

I also question how it would work playing it on smaller (say 51cm) tv.

Finally - did u notice how the IGN story made it sound like everyhting in the promotional video was an indicaiton of the controller/revo's ability? I think that was a little ummm amatuerish (for lack of better words)

Yeah, it is, however as long as Nintendo isn't providing a Gamecube controller in the Revolution package then developers won't be building many games with it in mind.

they may do
they said it would be backwards compatable, which means a GC-esque controller will be needed

would be a good idea from a marketing perspective, as developers would have a choice of using GC style or Revolution Style controller

This is the direct link to the shell article someone mentioned earlier
(in case someone can't find it )
http://cube.ign.com/articles/651/651559p1.html

"Nintendo has not yet released official imagery of what the controller shell might look like. However, we've created a mock-up (above) based on what we know of its functionality. The real controller shell is likely to connect to the free-hand-style pointer in a very similar fashion. Please note that we realize our model is not entirely to scale, but this is the best we could do on short notice."

I Personaly cant see a point to the wavebird like add on. What game needs 3 joysticks? (left thumb, right thumb, sensors) I would say the wavebird style add on will only have 1 anologe stick, making it cheaper (Nintendo think price wont be a problem for most people) and still have the functionalitly of 2 joysticks.

3rd Party games such as EA's 'game a day' crap isnt needed on the revolution, look at the PSP and DS, DS has the dual touch screen's, games comming out for it are great, fun and adictive. All PSP is getting is PS2 toned down ports, GT, GTA, Need for speed etc. Its the same old thing, althogh each game is better then the last there is no "leap".

This controler is going to do what the touch screen did for DS - make things intresting again for gammers.

I've grown up playing video games since i was a kid. Started with an Atari 2600. I still remember the feeling when I first got my first console. Gaming was new back then and i was addicted.

That feeling has basically died down ever since. The jump to 3D with PS brought back that feeling for a year but now I find myself buying Gamecubes, PS2, xbox for it only to collect dust. Console Games haven't changed much since the jump to 3D, just the graphics. I've kinda grown tiresome and bored of the conventional way of playing games, sitting on the couch bashing buttons on a pad since my first NES.

I think this new controller is just the thing that Next Generation Gaming needs. I don't know about everyone else but me personally as an old school gamer, I need something fresh and new. Graphics will always get better but it shouldn't stop there. I think Nintendo are headed in the right path and Kudos to them for making this attempt.

The question is whether the market will be ready for something new. I know i am. I for one definitely can't wait

And that about sums it up, and it's why my DS is getting more play now than my Xbox ever has (Halo2 and Fable excluded)...

Because the games are good, and it's different!

LoL nintendo have been smoking to many rocks. They have really put themselves in the poos. Lets say goodbye to a company that was once great but misread the market for the last 10 years.

whats ^^ this based on?

if you take a look at figures, MS is still trying to make a profit from its Xbox
whereas nintendo has been making a profit for some time

but if this is based on fact rather than fiction then please enlighten us
