Hey lexx_fan, thx for the link... that model comes sooo close. Four problems tho:

i) Its not wide screen
ii) Its gfx and sys memory is shared
iii) No bluetooth
iv) MT-28 (would be ok if i, ii and iii weren't an issue)

I found and MSI that comes close too...

The lightweight requirement often means you have to sacrifice some features, plus Turion technology has only been around for 6 months, so you might have to wait for a couple more generations to get exactly what you want. Notebook development moves awful quick though, so you shouldn't have too long to wait.

The MSI 635 seems to meet what your after http://www.msi.com.tw/program/produc...ng.php?UID=610 let me know if you you are after it cos I think were I work we can get the barebones and build it up for you - the only thing is it is hard to get some of the Turion CPU's at the moment.

Edit/ Just saw your post about MSI but the other offer still stands

Yeah, thx lexx_fan (btw, wierd show that one)

Hey FlameTheFire, thx for ur suggestion. The MSI u linked to has a 15.4" screen, so its not quite what im after. Earlier when i mentioned that a MSI model came close, i was talking about the MSI MEGABOOK S270

But, its screen is too small and it looks freakn terrible, lol..

I am very interested. Where are you located?

Can I get it at cost? (I can build it)

I have found it hard to get the barebone from distributors over here :/

Acer Ferrari? Expensive though and the styling is ''to taste".

Be wary of the ATI Xpress thingies... and even X300 thingies... HP have a lappie like this with X300 but it's still UMA.

That MSI 635 comes closest I think.

flamethefire, any indication of how much $?

MT30, 2x512mb, 40gb, dvdrw... how much would that set me back?

also... what is battery life like??? stupid as MSI page here:

http://www.msi.com.tw/program/produc...il.php?UID=610

says Li-Ion 8 cells, 4400mAh, 65W
The battery's life span has been tested with Mobile Mark 2002 software; however, the actual battery run time may still depend on the OS and software.

BUT doesn't actually state how long the battery life is... lol... unless there is some information in "Li-Ion 8 cells, 4400mAh, 65W" that states it...

One thing you should know is the processor are in short supply at the moment.

For thos specs you are looking at between 1800 - 1850 depending on what brand/speed of hard drive + ram.

I haven't done any bench tests on the turion with the battery life and I can't do any tests atm as we don't have any in store. Maybe someone else can shed some light i would be interested as well.

Edit - First day back from a long weekend I made a mistake with the different wattage CPU's.

mmmm

My lappy recently died and i'm on the new lappy quest. Turion MT looks quite interesting, but are there any models that have decent (3+ hours) battery life? Pentium M is fine, but doesn't have 64 bit yet :/
