Is static a concern with this stuff?? I just found out that Bunnings might have something similar (a meshing) .. its used for plants and stuff.. but may well fit the bill nicely.

I'm not a n00b, having been building computer the last 9 yrs of my life odd (infact 12 in the current week), and my PC at home is hardly what you'd refer to as "not worried about cooling" seem as it sports 4 x 80mm Thermaltake SmartCase2 Fan's, manual fan adjustments on the rear, and a fan controller in the front ..

It's just I dont want to void warranty (or potential warranty claims) by sleeving the PSU... despite how much or little it costs.

The case has a window, but doesnt LAN that often, and faces the wall.. but it'll shit me off if its not tidy

Then just use a few clear small cable ties to bunch the wires together nicely..

Not sure why your so paranoid about removing the molex plugs because of warranty if something ever happens to it, because you can simply just cut the braiding and heatshrink off.. but your choice I guess. It's not hard, can be easily removed if you ever have to return it and takes only a couple hours of your time for perhaps the neatest finish you can do to cabling.

Thats dumb. Sleeving your cables actually makes your cables a bit fatter and if anything will reduce airflow (by like 0.0000000000001% anyway......). You don't have to overclock to want to have a neat computer with good airflow

Anyway, if you do sleeve your cables i cannot stress enough to CHECK YOUR CABLES BEFORE YOU START YOUR COMP! So many people seem to fry their HDDs from having a red and a yellow wire mixed up.

Honestly, how will the PSU maker know that you've taken off the molex plugs?. They can't know if you remove all the sleeving before you RMA it . Either way, if you have a good brand PSU, the chance of failing should be much reduced and so sleeving seems alot more worthwhile.

ffs just take the molex's off, or stop with the whole idea!

that or buy some coloured duct tape from super cheap and just tape it around the cables. Period!

I'll post back when I get it all together and sorted.. another idea just popped into my head, but I'm unsure if I can get it to work.

Unfortunately if you want to do the sleeving properly, then you should be removing the cable ties that are already on the PSU cables.
Not only does it make the job easier (its really shitfull trying to slide the sleeving over cable ties), But it looks better and adds to the flexability of the cables.

The downside is, yes you will probably void your warranty. But that is the risk that most H/W mods run. Me thinks you would be better just getting some more cable ties and using them to route the cables out of sight of the case window. You'll be suprised what you can achieve with a bit of imagination.

Going for the win on this one.

There are 3 ways (cheapest, cheap and slightly more expensive) I can go.

The first is using a 1RU Fingered Cable Management Unit, and running the cables down inside that, then out with some tidying to devices.

The second is using ducting, and running cables down it, with cutouts at certain intervals for cables to come out of.

The third, is using Cable wrap with Velcro (which is available for about $18 a metre). No damage done, it can be cut down, and suits my application perfectly.

I'm considering maybe doing both, but I'll have to see how my cables lie with new parts in it first.

How do all you guys sleeve sata cables? I bought expandable sleeving for my previous psu but couldn't stop the sleeving stuff from fraying while trying to slide it over sata plugs. Was going to use some of that spiral wrap from pccg but i think sleeving looks much better. Needless to say that my next psu will be modular but want to sleeve this psu in the meantime.

u need at around 2 packs of that sleeving kit if u have a high end PSU with a lot of cabling.

i've only done my main rig's cabling as it's a lot of bloody work. instead of heatshrink i used spiral binding to hold the loose ends and took ages as the PSU had a lot of cables that needed to be depinned in order to slip the sleeving on.

I used a cigarette lighter to singe or melt the ends to stop the sleeving from fraying.

Doesn't work if you melt the ends down. The end needs to expand to get it over the plug, and when it does that, that weave comes undone.

With mine, I just did it trying to let it fray as little as possible, then used a cable tie & chopped off excess. Not perfect, but better than bare cables.
