I'm seriously considering this, but the mobile version of the 7800 is due to be released on friday US time I think? Then the M170 should be announced with it and its a whole new tough decision. It'll obviously cost a K more or so, but it may be worth it if it can be afforded.

What it'd like is to have the option of buying this one with the K off ONCE i've seen whats on offer in a few days time.

I might email Dell for a 30day qoute perhaps?

I have been considering this also.

I did notice though that their was a free bag and printer bundled with is as a promotion that ran out 2 days ago.

They replaced this offer with double your memory on the cheaper 9300 and with nothing on the $2800 offer.

Also do most people haggle with the dell service reps successfully or just pay the advertised price?

I dont have much knowledge with Dell, but I would say try to get as much as possible, as long as you have someone who specks English. True to get a Aussies sales rep, they are more likey to give you more stuff. Also, if they have just changed there deals, tell them about the old deal, and how much you wanted it, sometimes they might do something VERY cheap(I have heard of people getting a gig of ram for under $50) becuse you just missed out.

I would say try as hard as you can, they can only say no, and they cant jack the price up.

Just keep bargaining I'd say. I got the same system (see below) for even less than that back in MARCH...lol

When i was looking, i was only interested in WXGA instead of WUXGA, but the former didn't have as good a deal as the WUXGA package, and came with 60 or 80gb hdd instead of 100gb. The upgrade was about $300 at the time, but the sales lady i was dealing with said she could do it for ~$150.

So yes, there is quite a bit of room to work with on some components. If the price of an upgraded component seems like it's too much, then it probably is. Just work along the lines of "i'm really interested in upgrading such and such, but it would work out to be more than such and such model, can you decrease the price of that at all"...

100GB 5400RPM Seagate drives go for around 270 bucks now. Keep that in mind when paying +$ for an 'upgrade'.

I wouldn't call the 9300 "fully loaded" without gigabit ethernet. It wouldn't surprise me if a new model was on the way with ExpressCard support and gigabit at long last.... and the 7800GT Go is only .. err.. a few days away although it may only appear in the XPS2 for the time being (it's still compatible with the 9300 motherboard I'm told). Hopefully that fixes the 'snow' issues.

The Dell m170 has been released in the UK (was a few days ago, without 7800) and also in the US today or yesterday - with the 7800 go as an option.

Configured the same way its $3.2k US

I rang Dell for a quote yesterday for a 9300 so that I can get salary sacrificing sorted out, and was meant to get an email but I haven't recieved anything.

Anyway, www.dell.com / gaming

I ordered one of these 9300's today, $3400.
I upgraded a couple of things, the ram to a single 1 gig stick, a bluetooth connector, the processor to 2.13, to the 90Whr battery and the 3 years of warranty with accident cover and the works.
Unfortunately i found a stingy asian lady on the phone and she only gave me $200 off but still not a bad deal.

I rang to order the 9300 with afew extras that took the total to almost $3000.
I spoke to an asian sales guy who said thats a great price if I was buying a laptop I would buy it.
He stuck to the what a great deal it was line and would drop the price $0.

I left it at that and am having a think about it.

Thing is I want the laptop but I don't want to pay more than $2800.

It's for my mom and she wants a 17 inch screen but I can't justify $3000 but I can justify $2800.

that bundle is really a great price as that guy said mate. i dont think you can find something similar in Aus within that range. I work for Dell but i dont think i can get anything much cheaper than that unless i wanna make a huge loss like i did when the first $1000 off launched.

Just order it then or if u want, just contact me & i give u $50 off ehhehehe
