I use a stick based lighter, the click type ones.

Click it, get a nice long flame, and gentle brush the heatshrink with it.

i just use a hairdryer....
turn the heat up full blast and the speed on full blast
place the heatshrink CLOSE to the dryer and watch it shrink quickly

With Techflex type sleeving, you can't do it properly with an exposed flame as the sleeving will melt and burn too easily.

Hairdryer hasn't failed me yet

I'm lazy, the soldering iron is alway on next to me, so i grab that
Just dont run the tinned end on it otherwise you get flakes of solder come off all over it
