Hi guys,
I've just purchased a home theatre PC and want to have it connect straight to my TV. The video card I have in there is a basic nVidia 5200 w/ S-video as well as DVI and RGB. If I connect the s-video straight to the TV it displays Windows etc, but only in b&w. If I try to set it up as a secondary screen, it doesn't even detect it. Am I missing something here at all? Details of machine: Celery 2.6ghz 1gb RAM Asrock motherboard Aopen GeForce 5200 Windows XP Media Centre Thanks Jaff

Check to make sure your tv out is set to output in PAL and not NTSC. Also make sure your TV is seto to PAL or Auto.

Hmm. From what I saw last night there was no "TV Options" in terms of NTSC, PAL, etc. I will load on the proper nVidia software that came with the card tonight and see how it goes.
I only got the machine yesterday and it was preloaded (my preference is to do it myself but meh) with all the software. Thanks for your help guys - I'll just keep fiddling and hopefully come up with the solution.

When using the standard Nvidia drivers select 'Nview Display settings' highlight the tv and then select 'Device setings' - 'Select TV Format' I set mine to PAL/B.

Also, if it is possible, try use the DVI or VGA. Much better than the s-video. If you can't then don't bother, but if you can, you will be wondering why you didn't use it in the first place.

Most TV doesn't have VGA or DVI input.

I got it all working by plugging in an S-Video to Composite adapter... Worked in colour immediately.
So thanks for your help guys. It's appreciated
