Informative post. So basically the non tualatin chips with FC-PPGA2 will be fine with fcpga 370 motherboards?

So these bios updates are a waste of time? Is it true none of the new p3 processors being released by Intel will work on a BX board?

The gigabyte GA-60XET supports FC-PGA2 (Tualatin) and is avaliable for $247.00 at Ashgrove computer systems for those of us that live down Melbourne way.

Just because it supports fcpga2 doesnt mean it supports tuatalin, it could just support the new cumine stepping. I would check, but both gigabyte's websites are giving me dns errors atm
www.giga-byte.com and www.gigabyte.com.tw

The CD0 Coppermine is a "FCPGA2"?? Who is telling such a nonsence?? I have got a CD0 PIII 1000 (thanks Ebay ) which is a extremely standard Coppermine FCPGA, the only difference to be found between the CC0 and the CD0 P3 1000 is the VCore: CC0=1,70V, CD0=1,75V. That's it. The CD0 runs very fine on my damn old ASUS P3V4X Board using the newest beta Bios 1006.003...

So what is the fastest CDO P3 being released that will work in my trusty BX board?

Thanks for the info. Not really worth upgrading to 1.1Gig, already getting 1008 from a celeron. I was excited hearing about a P3 running close to 2Gig on a BX board, but guess it's not to be

The upgrade from Celeron to P3 is actually quite noticable, depending on what you actually do with your PC.

I had a C566 @ 850MHz, my P3-700E in the same system beats it at SETI@Home quite convincingly, and that's without overclocking. At 933MHz, it melts the pants off the Celeron at 850MHz (more than just it's clock speed advantage would indicate)...
