Thumbs up How TestDisk saved my life...

I dont usually post strange posts like this but anyway,

i had a split second moment of insanity last nite when going to reformat my SATA system drive (the one i install my OS' on) and accidently delete the partition and then made another one on my storage drive, the Lacie 250gb external HDD. *slaps forehead*

now since i store most my stuff on here, most importantly, photos, important docs, etc. i was shittin (UHHHHHHH OHHHHHHHHHH) mainly cuz my gf wudda had my nuts and proceeded to drown me in the pool if i were to deliver such dreadful news.

Anyway, id heard of data recovery before and thought it wudnt be too hard so i hit the net and began downloading and trying program after program all to no avail, hopes were fading until i came accross Test Disk. i downloaded it in the form of a linux boot disc, burnt it and away i went, 5 minutes later id fully restored the original partition, asif id never touched it and although i felt like jumpin around claiming my victory, i had to contain myself as i would have to explain the original oopsy and would still suffer to some degree.

In any case id like to proclaim that TestDisk is the shiiite!! was so easy, fast and hence saved my life...

I've just done basically the same thing as you. I deleted the wrong partition. I'm trying GetDataBack. Hopefully it works. Otherwise I've lost 80G of MP3's.

Just make sure you dont write anything else onto that drive until u give up trying, that will make things alot harder
