Default Tecra A5. How do you connect it to a sound system?

Got one for the daughter for uni, but the speakers are crap. Only out is headphones.

Correct! Unfortunately this is the only way to connect the A5 to an external audio device.

i too have a 'digital entertainment gateway' (asus) laptop...everything is great except for the audio out which i ascertained to only come from the headphone port

so i simply took a composite audio -> headphone jack cable and hooked my laptop to my digital receiver at home...audio comes out in 5.1..may not be the best compared to optical or coaxial but its good enough

might finally invest in a proper HTPC in the future

edit: btw i got that composite audio -> headphone jack cable from jaycar

I have a cable, I was just not sure about hooking up a headphone out to the Aux input on the sound system. I shall ask the techs at work, they should know. Radio MCR.

If you want some serious sound from your laptop, then get an Audigy 2 PCMCIA sound card
