Default Shuttle XPC SB81P

Hi Guys

THinking about grabbing this , I've heard issues from a friend that his shuttle overheats constantly and has had to return it 3 times now!

I'm wanting to add in a 200GB SATA drive, 512meg ram and a average video card (6600GT), no overclocking or anything really and hardly any gaming (if at all)

Do they have as many heat issues as I hear? Whats a good price for a used one?

Thanks

If you're worried about heat, maybe consider some of the AMD systems.

I have a SN95G5 (AMD 3000+, 1gb ram, 120gb SATA, 6600GT) and have no problems with heat, even in summer.

If you want an Intel based one maybe consider SD11G5 that uses the pentium M chips (apparently these run cooler).

I owed a SN45G with a 2500+ and 6600GT nice lilttle machine
CPU temp was around 40~ and HSF was on low RPM.

Also a SB61GV2 Another awsome SFF. it had a 3Ghz Prescott but unfortunatly was around 60D even with the ICE HSF. i whackd on some AS5
and the temperature droped to 43D. from that time onwards I ran the unit @ 3.6Ghz / 55D temp

Im also looking for a SFF computer; move around a few times a year; don't have the budget to buy the laptop I would like but want more portability than a Desktop.

My question is - how are they with noise? not just this particular sff pc but in sff's in general? I would be looking, I think, at a 3000 ath 64 system, 6600 gt, 1gb, 200 gb; What sort of noise would I be putting up with? I get the shits fairly easily with loud stuff

the AMD 64 are really quite like there desktop counterparts
due to their low temps

Addition to that the XPC's use Heatpipe cooling so its even better

and the fan is always on low, even with the cpu @ full load its no fuss and you can o'c ^_^

the Prescotts are abit loader
