15" Macbook pro here.

1st Mac. Bit of a steep learning curve.

As well as the PC in my sig (my gaming box) my household currently has two Macs:

My Mac Mini media centre

1.83GHz Core Duo Mac Mini
80GB HDD
2GB Lemel RAM
Elgato EyeTV Hybrid tuner
400GB Samsung HDD in Coolermaster XCraft Firewire enclosure
Adesso Slimtouch wireless keyboard with touchpad

My girlfriends laptop

iBook G4 12" 1.42GHz
1GB RAM, 60GB HDD

Also have a 60GB 5th gen iPod, a 2Gb 1st gen nano, and a 2nd gen shuffle (got that one as a freebie)

Used to have a couple of eMacs, an old G3 Powermac and an ancient Powermac 7300 but I gave one of the eMacs to my mum and flicked the rest on eBay.

what did you get for the old one?

if its a decent trade in / resale I might get rid of my 17" mbp/2gb/100gb7200/2.33ghz and get the new one.

but its only 7ghz differnce I guess :/

You get a Core 2 Duo rather than a Core Duo CPU. From the reviews it appears that the battery life remains constant and you gain ~20% performance increase.

Not being an accountant I don't think I'll bother doing a cost/benefit analysis though.

the 2.33 is C2D

yeah looking at the new one, its not worth the drama for me to upgrade to a 'little' bit faster
