Default iTunes Alternatives

Just thought i might make a post about this because of the number of people that do not like itunes, its simple enough to use etc, i guess some people feel restricted by it or some users (even though its made for n00b users) still cant get there heads around it an would like to experiment with other software.

Anyways here is the list (please note I nor other members etc will not be held responsible if you damage your ipod, or ipod firmware from use of these programs/ hacks)

ephpod
vPod
foobar2000
anapod
winamp itunes plugin
YamiPod

if anyone else knows of anymorelet me know ill add it to the list

Hrm. One of these days i think i'll get around to writing an iTunes guide for the wiki, because imo iTunes is by far the best program available for iPods, the only feature you should need another program for is copying back to the computer.

I've used ephpod and it is more hassle than anything. I personally wouldn't recommend it, as it doubled up most of my songs, and then only transferred select songs and not the entire library.

Stick to iTunes IMO, it was designed for it and works a lot quicker

Try Senuti for that function:

What is there not to like about iTunes? It's simple, its fast, it works. What more power can a "power user" want for arranging there music?

I used to use vPod, but now I'm back to iTunes, it's really simple, and I can easily mess with ID3/Album Art... It's a nice app.

There's also CopyPod which lets you copy music from your iPod.

My main problem with iTunes is that it runs like crap on large playlists. I have over 31,000 songs in my foobar2000 playlist and it runs smoothly. iTunes just can't handle it. Also there's the lack of good tagging facilities and vorbis support.

It's still a great program for most users.

When I first got my ipod I already had a sizeable mp3 collection (I'd wanted one for ages) and itunes messed up a bunch of my ID3 tags.
Yes I had ripped them with different programs (and ..borrowed some from friends) but still it kinda pissed me off.
True, all I had to do to get itunes to recognize them properly was click on "get info", but to do that for 2000+ songs was pretty weak.
The alternative I found was the previously mentioned Anapod Explorer.
It was cheap (tho obviously not free as itunes is) and for your money you get a lifetime of updates/upgrades.
Its a great option for ppl that dont like the itunes interface, and it has a cool webserver/sql database function.
My gf uses itunes for her nano..
Anyway!

With creating a playlist with iTunes, can you highlight a bunch of songs by holding left click and then drag and drop onto the playlist or do i have select each individual one?
