Default Mac Mini for CS2?

I've been contemplating the switch to Apple for awhile now, but I want to do it as cheaply as I can and I'd like to have the freedom to use whichever monitor I choose - so no imac.

How would a 1.42ghz Mac Mini with 1GB ram handle working with 6 megapixel images in Photoshop CS2 on a 1280x1024 19" LCD monitor do you reckon?

CS2 works OK on my 1.33Ghz Ibook with 1GB RAM however it doesnt like batch processing and If you were dealing with lots of Images would be a little bit frustrating. I dont know from experience directly but I'd say it would be a bit underpowered for heavy photoshop use.

Mac Minis are now available in 1.5Ghz variants, so get this for as much speed as possible. CS2 will be fine with 1GB of RAM.

Thanks very much for the opinons guys, it sounds like a Mini would be borderline for CS2 work, though I'm still tempted.

Anyone else who can offer some input perhaps? Cheers.

Me again How much are you willing to spend - you could consider a second-hand Quicksilver or MDD machine with dual processors, and a much faster graphics card that'll make using apps like Illustrator etc. much smoother.

Mac mini will run CS2... though not at any speed that you'd enjoy using...

If you have the money u'd be better off getting an iMac or an older PowerMac for it...

remember as good as the Mac Mini is, it was never made for great performance... it really is the budget Mac

My mini runs CS2 fairly well with a 17" LCD and 4 megapixel images.. lags a little bit but that's because its the 1.25GHz with 512 RAM..

Very much usable though

I'm willing to spend as little as I have to basically

I haven't heard of Quicksilver or MDD machines before, are they macs?
