dual core.... amd and intel

Being totally ignorant about dual core cpu's, what do people have to say about each laptop variant made by Intel and AMD?

Is either one better than the other?

im getting a 3800 x2 dual core tomorrow (in a laptop) ill tell you how it preforms... ill most likely sell it once i am finished with it
