Default CPU for Dell C610?

Hey all,

I've got a p3-mobile in my Dell C610. My lappy has an mPGA 479 socket. What faster CPU's can I get for my lappy? Will it take a P-M or a P4 Mobile?

Cheers,
David

You can put up to a 1.2ghz tualatin p3-m chip in that machine. These are pretty hard to find, as they havent been made for about 4 years.

The sockets probably look similar, but in no way is a P3 physically pin compatible any any P4 core.

Google shows an mPGA 479 socket.

Yeh I'll probably have to go one of those new ones

on an unrelated topic, I had to replace the CMOS battery yesterday on a dell C610, and its not an easy battery to replace. It carries a weirdo six cell CMOS battery. The best batteryworks can do for me is repack the battery.

Hope yours is healthy davo
