Default Westnet Broadband?

Hey guys,

Im not sure if im allowed to do this but I am going to. Has anyone had any experience with this ISP. I am almost signing up at the moment to their $39.95 (256/64) a month plan but want to know what people on here think.

It seems like a much better deal than other bigger ISP's and they have a deal on atm that gives free connection and a free adsl modem/router to new customers. I think this is probably one of the best deals around.

What do you guys think?

Cheers, Nick.

I don't know about this particular deal but I've been a customer for a couple of years and have never had any complaints. Good phone support the couple of times I've needed it, and extremely reliable connection.

I'm with them.
There are cheaper ones, but these guys customer service ethic is second to none in my experience.

I'm on the Premium 512k/128k - 5GB / 5GB plan.

I've got 4 accounts with westnet (all 1500k) and have only had great service with them.

Their customer service is the best ive dealt with... TPG on the other hand..

Westnet does always seem to get plenty of glowing reviews over at WP:

Seems to be one of the better isp's around at the moment, from what I've read.

Westnet have a good reputation.

My only caveat would be to check the "free" modem deal out very carefully.

My experience is you don't ever get something for nothing.... you will pay for it somewhere down the track, whether it's a crappy modem, or maybe it ties you into a long-term contract, or perhaps you only get a low download allowance and then shaped, or maybe even a low download allowance and then excessive fees for more data.

I don't know..... just check it out very carefully.

I changed from tpg to westnet and have found westnet to be far more reliable and way better support than tpg. I have been with then now for about 4 months on the $59.95 1500/512 plan and cant recall ever having any problems with connections or download speeds.

Thanks a lot for all the quick replies guys.

Most likely, I will go with westnet. My uncle is with them and has never had a problem. People on these forums seem to reccommend them. And as for the service. I ring them up, told by a computer that all operators were busy and was told i would b rung back asap. I got a phone call within 5 minutes.

My current dial-up isp (wont mention any names) is one of the major ones and service is very unreliable. Not to mention the absolute nuffa's that they have workin in their call centres.

The plan I am looking at has a 10GB download limit. But it is different to other because it has on-peak and off-peak times. 5GB between 7am and 12pm and another 5GB between 12pm and 7am. Is this an advantage or not?

I really do appreciate all the help.

Cheers, Nick.

i was with westnet for a year and they are certainly exceptional for service as you could call up during non business hours and someone would take your call. but unless you're a complete computer illiterate, there's no way you'd need all that support IMO.

in the $39.95 price range, the free modem/router deal does sound good and the ISP is definatly of quality.

you might find later on that the download cap of 5GB per month really isn't much to work with, you could always change anyway

I dont think i am going to find a better deal than the westnet deal. Free connection, free modem/router and its actually 10GB of downloads bout only between certain hours (on-peak and off-peak). But as stated, I can always change that. I also like the westnet deal because there are no extra charges, they just shape your speeds if you go over.

I especially like the free modem as I have already bought one and am already thinking about what I am going to buy with the store credit i get when I return it.

Cheers, Nick.

Saw the topic, just thought i'd add 'im never changing from westnet'.

Excellent service, great connection uptime, and love the free WAIX etc (im a gamer so local servers are counted as free)

I'm on 256/64k and ive never gone over my 5Gb quota once.

I am with westnet, used to have a fair few problems with connection dropouts, but now they are ok. One of the smaller companies so the connectio is usually pertty good...
