Hi guys,
I just made a purchase of a second hand presario 700 and have some across a small problem. The battery is plugged in and I've plugged in the ac cord too to try charge it, but it doesn't want to charge? Just the green light lights up saying there is power going to the laptop which allows me to turn on the computer and use it while it's plugged in, but I can't actually charge the laptop? Am i missing something? I tried holding the button on the battery for 15 secs! I have shutdown the laptop when I try to charge it! Am out of ideas Cheers |

I think he means that you should discharge the battery completely before charging it?

Id say the battery is stuffed, which isnt really a cheap thing to replace.
Some places do battery repacking, which is basically the art of breathing life back into a battery, and can be significantly cheaper than buying a new battery. Which might be an option for you in this case. Battery repacking is particularly useful for batteries that are hard to come by. Particularly the batteries they use in notebooks to hold the CMOS. Battery Works is whom I use for my battery repacking, but they are only in QLD. They have some information about battery repacking on their website though, if you are interested. http://www.battery.com.au/repacking/repacking.htm |

My girlfriend has a similar laptop which the battery will work in so I'l double check that it's the battery tomorrow! If it's not, then who knows.
Thanks for the replies so far. |
