ok ive currently running a 40g 2mb cache 4200 or 4500rpm,i want to buy a new drive i can get a samsung 120g 8mb cache 5800rpm for $215 but im also thinking of getting a hitachi 80g 7200rpm 8m cache for $240,i do play games on this laptop.is it worth loosing 40gig and gaining quicker seek time?would it be noticable on the laptop?which would be better value.

just want to give it a bit more grunt,it takes for ever to load.

My Hitachi 7,200rpm drive just upped and carked it - fucken took all my data. Had a backup which was ok.

I'd take the 5,400rpm drive - there's not much difference from 5,400 to 7,200rpm and 40Gb is like 50% more.

Where are you getting Samsung prices from?

I'm interested in trying someone new.

shirl,

tell me how you go with this.

The samsung 120Gb sounds like a bargain compared to the competition.

Most drives in that price are 80-100Gb!
