Default PDA/PocketPC Stylus attachment mod

I only have one stylus for my PocketPC. Being a cheapass and not wanting to pay $25 for 3 pieces of small metal sticks, I did this:

- Get 4 long pieces of thin string (the ones you use to mend your shirt buttons). Bunch them together.
- My PPC's battery casing is easily opened, so opened that.
- Took the battery out, wrapped the piece of string 3 times around the battery, put battery back in.
- Close the battery cover again. Other end of the string is outside, of course.
- Attach the loose end to stylus (one of the end of the stylus has a screw cover, so I took out the screw, put the string in there, and screwed it back on). Or you can always superglue it.

End result: That stylus is never going farther than 10 cm from the PPC. Even if you have replacement stylus, finding it after you drop it is still a hassle.

Warning: This mod is not for the fashion-conscious.

this mod dosent work on my pocket pc (axim x50v)

cos if you have the battery compartment opened even just a tiny tiny fraction it will shut down the handheld and wont turn on again until its firmly shut and locked...

No the idea is not opening the battery compartment all the time as an anchor for the string inside the PDA. It's only ever opened for the first install and once the string is tied around the battery you close it for good and never open it again..

Basically, there is always about 10 cm of string hanging out outside of the PDA, and that's what gives me the flexibility to take out the stylus while still have it attached by that string to the PDA. Maybe I should post pix to show how it works, but don't know how to post one in this forum.
