I consider myself quite the connoisseur of the good ol' tube of meat, and have journeyed to many a fine (and not so fine) kebab emporium in Melbourne. I was wondering what other people thought.
My favorites are: 1: Kebab House (Nicholson street, near emperess) Get the lamb with chilli flakes and sauce. Brilliant 2:Ismalis (Sydney road) Awesome chicken 3:Stalactites Great chicken (they use the crispy bits) Stay away from 1:Alaysa Crap, plus they had a food poisoning thing (left the fridges off and served seafood salad) 2:Anything in a food-court(Ali babas and the like) 3: Any pre made bain-marie crap |

Ali baba make some decent ones. (only tried it in canberra, there aren't many of them around in sydney) Actually had a kebab yesterday and it was gross, threw half of it out. Won't be having another for a few months now. |

bah, not true! Have the one from kebab house and you'll know what I mean. Also aside from taste there is the soggyness factor and the size! Adanali and golden terrace (another couple of places on sydney road) are great for filling kebabs for 5-6 bucks.

Best kebabs in Australia are from a guy who runs a kebab store outta the back of a caravan.
He works on the cr of Doncaster road and Middlebourgh road (in doncaster). The place is at a car wash/mechanics place. The name on the caravan is "Doner Kebabs" These will not be equalled by any other kebabs anywhere. The guys name is Ali, tell him Stevee sent you .

For the Brisbaneites head over to Sunnybank. I don't know the name of the kebab shop, but the shopping centre its in is diagonally across from the Sunnybank mall (Cnr Mains road & Padstow road). The guy that owns it is a absolute champ too

Souvlaki King on Brunswick St is a regular favourite for late night missions.

Which place near the Empress? The one across the road on the corner or the one just a few doors down near the CBA ATM machine machine? I remember the Souvlaki Van that used to be at the Servo on Flemington Rd near the Royal Childrens. Almost every time I went there the Souva Man would try and fight a customer. Great late night theatre! |
