I think you would need a notebook for that type of storage.
I know you can get 4gb CF cards, but i have not heard of anything that would even be close to 30gb on a PDA.

The question is what do you want it to do?

i basically need a organisation/media/doccument/audio/storage device to carry with me everywhere. a bit like an encyclopedia galactica of my life. i currently use a 60gb external usb drive but i want to be able to view/access things on the go.

i was also considering a small tablet pc. do they make small ones? say about half an A4 page size, maybee a little larger?

need:
minimum 500mhz processor, more is better
minimum 30gb storage, more is better
must be under 2000 aus $

Fujitsu Lifebook P1510 sounds like it would fit the bill, except for errm... the matter of the umm, bill. It's high $2000s if I recall correctly.

Palm Lifedrive would probably be the most suitable candidate from PDA-land, but it's only 4GB.

EDIT: Oops, dyslexified the Lifebook's model #.

Yeah, I don't think anything exists exactly matching your desire.

Ipod video?

Possibly Toshiba Libretto - uber-small laptop, 7" screen I think, which is probably still a little larger than you have in mind. Probably uber-expensive too.

I have a similar collection of my thoughts (it's like an extension of my mind) but I don't need to carry it around so much.

Surely you could keep multimedia files in a permanent spot and put text documents and other editable-on-the-go stuff on the aforementioned lifedrive.

There are some damn small laptops around, but they are going to be bigger than what you want.

Storage will always be an issue, but you can always get a iPod 60GB and use that for Data when your not listening to music... or just buy an external lappy HDD if you must :P

Maybe you should consider something like an O2 XDA II mini (or the new Atom when they work a few bugs out) with a large memory card as an alternative. Use this most of the time as your phone/PDA/music player/video player and get a small(ish) lappy to take when you need more power/flexibility.

Hopefully the PDA will service all those inbetween times when you don't want to carry the laptop.

Maybee I somehow implied that it HAD to be tiny, but i really wouldnt mind anything under say 12inch screen, pref with tablet function and long battery life.
