Default Looking for 02 XDA parts

I have an 02 XDA II which has had the socket for the charger connection completely mangled. I dismantled the thing and soldering on a new one seems pretty straight forward. Does anybody know where I would be able to buy a new jack to solder on? Who supplies XDA parts?

I vaguely know someone who did exactly the same thing, so I know you can get them (i'm trying to get in touch with him as well).

Thanking in advance if you can help me out.

might sound weird but many 2.5" laptop drive caddies have the exact same port, only problem is it might cost ya $30 lol but then again the phone is worth lotes more

psyco18 is right, although I can't speak from experience. The mini uses a standard mini usb connector so any device that has one you can pull apart to retrieve the connector. Look for cheap extnernal HDD cases, either 3.5" or 2.5" is fine. Cheap MP3 Players and cheap digicams all have the same connector. Just double check by taking a cable with you and making sure it fits the device. Sometimes, just to be different, the makers use a standard pin out in a non standard plug. For example the Creative 256mb MP3 player I have a few years back had a proprietry plug, technically it has just a USB mini plug, but in a different shape that ment you had to get replacements from Creative. Luckily pretty much all plugs are standard now.

How did you manage to break the one you have?

So you're saying that it's a mini usb plug? Because i'm pretty sure it's not. This isn't an XDA mini or XDA atom, it's about a year old. In fact here is a pic of the model, you can clearly see the power socket at the bottom there:

So yeah, unfortunately I don't think a usb plug is going to work. Any ideas as to where to get one of these plugs?

The plug basically broke because it was WAY too fragile to last very long in normal conditions. It had about a dozen tiny little pins on both the socket and the male charger plug, the plug always had a loose fit and a piss poor securing mechanism, and it was really easy to put the plug in upside down (because there was no good mechanism to stop you doing it, you just had to remember which way was the right way up and check the charge light to see if you got it right) which really damaged it. I think it was ultimately putting in upside down that bent and mangled the pins.

Sorry vitvit, I was thinking of the mini.

As I see it you have two options, either go to a O2 repair centre and get them to do it for you (or if your REALLY lucky they will sell you the part).

Or find a second hand unit that is dead and canabalise it for the connector (or get it working with parts from yours).

Failing that try emailing the support people from O2:

They may be able to point you in the right direction for getting a new connector.

I doubt you'll be able to get a replacement, stuff like that isn't commonly used and you'd be extremely lucky for anyone to sell you just the connector itself.
