Default $4000 Toshiba has bright spot behind screen

Hi, 6 days ago I bought a Toshiba laptop and was told at point of sale that there was no pixel warranty with the product and if I wanted I would be able to check the screen before I took it from the shop to check for pixels. So I checked the screen, and fair enough there were no pixels out. Anyway, I got it home and after two days I noticed a bright spot behind the screen about the size of 4 pixels appears after the unit has been running any longer than about 15 minutes. It looks as though it is coming from behind the LCD screen and is a much brighter white than any of the pixels even when I turn the brightness and Gamma to maximum. When I use a black mouse and position it over the top of the spot, I can not see it, however, if I move my head to the side I can see the bright spot is behind the black mouse. This dot appears to be coming from behind the screen, so I'm guessing it is not a pixel, can anyone tell me what it is? Thanks for any help, I've tried Googling this, but have not been able to find a thing, only about dead ixels, which this is not.

The dot is so bright I can see it with a white screen as a background from 80cm's away! I'm convinced that the shop I bought it from a re just going to say it is a pixel and tell me to go jump. :-(

Check to see if there is a Dead on Arrival or refund for the first 7 days. No pixel policy sounds very dodgy.

edit: If it really bothered me i would take it back, say its defective and ask for a full refund.

I think I know what you mean by the bright spot, my toshiba has several, all over the screen, but it is 4 years old. I had the screen replaced once, but the spots came back over a 6 month period, so I just learned to live with them.

They are not visible straight on, right?

You can see it on any angle, but it stands out more when you look at it side on as the rest of the screen darkens while the spot stays the same brightness. I have sent it back so I am now waiting for a reply from them.

Did you ever find out what it was? My laptop once went through a whole bunch of replacement screens (cables failing or melting, every second line missing, DOA replacements, etc.) and one problem I remember was a tear in the back reflecting/diffusing sheet which produced a bright white spot. Got it replaced without question, however was replaced with a screen with 2 small white spots. Since it was my 5th screen I figured I'd give the local warranty guys a break and just live with it.

I asked the guy and he didn't know what it was, they didn;t even bother opening it up, they just gave me a brand new Laptop instead. My guess is that it was a tear in the reflective sheet. It definately wasn't a pixel.
