I really like the first one, the fishes markings, the intracacy of the designs on its skin are awesome!

Well done in avoiding reflections and stuff off the glass, and getting exposures pretty damn close to perfect (not sure about the shark one tho...)

If i wasn't convinced before, I am now! I definitely couldn't do that with my current cam! Nice pics all (except maybe the shark, it's a bit... blendy)

if outside a tank how did you compenstate for the refelction in the glass?

i love how #4 is so clear with the color and focus, but everything behind has not color.

thanks for all the kind comments guys! you're all too nice

the photos were taken through the glass (pretty thick glass; bout 2inches) and all photos have been manipulated in photoshop. (mainly curves adjustments and sometime auto levels helped.

my gf also took photos with her lumix lz1 while we were there and some of them turned out preetty good. maybe its the glass they use.

i was getting pretty high shutter speed aswell (round 400-800 on iso 200-400) so that helped.

if anyone is looking shopping for a dslr and has a tight(ish) budget you cant go wrong with this combo!

cd: love the 2nd photo there!

cheers guys.

What program do you use to get the 3D shading (framing) on your photos?

To me it just looks like a drop-shadow effect in Photoshop. Very easy to do - with the layer selected go to Layer - Layer Style - Blending Options. From there just click the Drop Shadow checkbox and play around with the settings.

I love the clarity in #5, and the intricate detail caught in #1.

Great pictures

I love #1.
I'm wondering whether you would be kind enough to put up a 1600x1200 for desktop purposes?

I ADORE the first one and I'm amazed you were able to take such great shots with a 'budget' lens like the Sigma.

You really should frame that first shot, it's superb.
