Great shots, I've got the same lens in the mail for me at the moment, very impressed the the quasi macro, seems pretty sharp.

#4 would be the winner if it had a larger DOF, I love the composition and crop, I just want the whole flower in focus. Great stuff though

i kinda like the dof in #4 but i can see where your coming from.. and even when shooting around f16(i think) with the raynox you're still not gonna get maximum dof.. dedicated macro lens would do it!

i shoulda mentioned none of these have been cropped. all are full frame shots.

i'd have to say my fav is #5.

glad you guys like em.

question: how do i work out the macro ratio? for example the purple flowers are about 1.5cm's in width maximum. is it 1:1 or close?

cheers for the comments!

Mate, they are great. I love the borders you have on them, is it a closely guarded secret ot could you tell me how to do them?

I was thinking the exact same thing. If the centre and the edges of the flower were in focus then it'd be perfect - but, I reckon it's great. I think the shot looks really nice and the background colour complements the colour of the flower nicely.

Ummm, in a nutshell, he probably has a recorded series of photoshop actions to:
  • Enlarge canvas, white canvas
  • Enlarge canvas, black canvas
  • Select all
  • Shrink selection to only select the picture (and not the new borders created by the canvas enlargement
  • Drop shadow
