Which 'Next-Gen' Consoles do you plan on buying?

Hi all,

I don't think this thread has been done before, as there are single console threads, but this can be to share views on which to choose, 1? 2? or all? It shouldn't be about Fanboi-ism, cause as most people know, it's all about the games.

But at the same time, games cost money, and more importaintly so do Consoles (especially in this day and age...bar Nintendos) so what do you do? Buy 1 to play a few which you want to? Buy 2 consoles to play their favourites? Or will you splurge and go all out?

I'm a Uni Student, and am tossing up between an Xbox 360 & a PS3 (Nintendo Revolution is an essential) but would love all 3...I'm not sure tho...maybe what other people do might not make me feel as guilty

If it's any consolation, I'm using the experiences as 'Research' as I'd like to work in the games industry someday (studying Software Eng) so maybe it wouldn't be so bad?

Anyway, what will you do? Briefly discuss...

Revolution - Im a Nintendo fanboy.
Ability to play all the old classics from the Genesis and SNES.
Seems like a console even my girlfriend can enjoy.

I'v got the X360 and am pretty happy with it. I'll definatly get a revolution when they come out, the quirky controller, the always innovative & impressive nintendo titles & low cost (compared to the others) make it a excellent second console imo.

As for PS3, I'll wait and see how the games play before I decide on it. I loved my original playstation but the PS2 just didn't look and feel right to me compared with dreamcast and xbox titles around the same time, they always felt like poor cousins to the ports on the other systems.

Amen to that. I just picked up a few PS2 titles I already had on Dreamcast for a comparison, and they were shockers. Audio was out, visuals were blocky and smudged, and load times were crap. Full credit given to Sony for being able to successfully market such a rubbish console.

On topic: the Revolution is a definite for me. 360 and PS3 will have to show me a library of very impressive and innovative titles before I even bother considering them. I'm suffering from chronic sequelitis and dieing for something new to come out and really take advantage of all this new grunt (where the heck is Ninety Nine Nights???). With that said, the lack of region control on the PS3 makes it look very tasty for an import gamer like myself, assuming the titles are there to support it (and likewise, are in English if the text/audio is more important than just menu options).

Revolution.

Maaaaaybe a PS3 if the games are right, but probably not. Will probably end up spending that money on a PC upgrade. And I don't see any games I like on the X360 that I can't get on the PC.

i get em all every generation....will do so again.

3x consoles = less than my pc upgrade each year, so it's a fair deal

(and I can claim it all on tax anyway

)

Rev - Mario/Kart/Party / Zelda etc

dont see the merit in the x360, as most games will end up being shared by the PS3 and x360, and the exclusives arent worth playing anyway (halo 3? kinda sick of the whole trend now...)

All 3 - has been the trend fro me over the past few generations!

Most looking forward to the PS3 with the Revolution coming closely behind - already have the 360 but that was third on my list anyway!
