Default 13" Macbooks

Quote:
APPLE Computer is reported to be close to launching all-new Intel-powered notebook Macs for the consumer, small business and education markets.

The new models, expected late this month or early next, will be dubbed "MacBooks" rather than iBooks, the moniker used for present models for this market.

Internet reports say the new models will have at least 1.67GHz Core Duo chips and 13in screens.

They will be much cheaper than the already-released MacBook Pro notebooks, which have 15in screens and are aimed at the professional market.

The rumours about the new macbook have been going on for quite some time. I wont believe it until I hear it from apple.

I must admit a release date would be nice as ive been waiting for them to be released for a couple of months.

That's my kind of laptops. Small, portable yet still powerful. If it's much cheaper than MacBook Pro then I'm getting one as soon as it's released.

I think Apple is missing a huge market by if they do not introduce a 12" Macbook Pro. But the 13" Macbook is a good start.

I agree.

I would seriously consider upgrading my 12" iBook for a 12" Macbook, but if there's no chance of a 12" one I wouldn't be very interested in a 13" one, unless it was significantly smaller/lighter in overall dimensions than what I have now.

Yeah Apple should have something like the Dell Latitude X1 (12.1" widescreen 1.15kg).

13" will probably do better in the education market, 12" is still a little small for alot of users...
Personally i think if they dont do a 12" they will lose the whole ultra portable market though...

Come on, compete with the IBM X40's and X60's...

Does anyone else find the idea of running a Mac a lot more appealing now they can run XP? They make good hardware you have to give them that, ability to run windows natively and still dual boot an alternate OS and im finding myself more and more interested...
Still, i think it would take at least a free Macbook to pry my thinkpad away from me...:P

Such a tough decision. I'll have to wait until these come out now before I make up my mind.

IF the macs come out anytime soon i would really like to get one. a 12" macbook pro though... that would be awsome as. Ability to dual boot though, games, games games. what else would i use windows for..... mmm NOTHING. Tiger pooes all over XP. but yere a 13" inch mac??? mmm that sounds good. I hear they will come with the new magnetic clips, cause i no on my 12" powerbook atm the clip is annoyin and doesn't always work. DDR2 667 would be good to. Macs are not made, they r grown ahahahah (thankx Danske)

I would buy a 12 ~ 13" Macbook aswell.

Only problem being Apple would no doubt put shitty useless video cards in them

yere tru that. It would be awsome (n i no that this is a bit off topic) but how kool would it be if they just put a PICe slot in like the new Imac (i no this couldn't happen) but it would be awsome to own a mac that could have b a own video card of ya own choice. that would be awsome for LANIN

I have the feeling they'll be using integrated Intel video, to maintain something close to the predecessor's price point :-P
