Default PSP screen

hey all,

just wondering if anyone is having any issues with the screen of their PSP... I turned it on recently and I don't use it much and I noticed one patch on the screen is darker than the rest, I left it on and used it for about 5-6min *staying in the PSP menu* and I noticed that now in that dark patch there are a cluster of 8 red dots... I dunno if they're stuck pixels or not coz when the background is black they should light up right? but they don't. My PSP has about 3 stuck pixels on the screen and when it's dark they disappear but these new red ones *which weren't there when I first got it* don't...

Has anyone else come across this at all? what are they and does it mean the LCD on my PSP is starting to fail or something? Would I be able to warranty my PSP as a result of this as it only developed recently *no the PSP has not been dropped, thrown or roughly handled*

bad luck, sony are complete bastards when it comes to psp dead pixels. talked to a sales rep at sony central i asked him what the pixel return policy, did the usual "manufacturing process" BS they spinout, then mentions something abt replacement only if u have alot of dead pixels, or a few close together. and it goes through sony , not your local distro methinx

if u have 1.5 there are a few stuck pixel fixers which can be found at psphacks.

i myself have a dead pixel, and 2 stuck pixels, but mines 1.5 and i cant apply for replacement cos i dont have enough of a problem.

dont get your hopes up too much, sony are complete bastards at customer service. remember at the PSP launch(japan), when the square button(? was one of them) became jammed? sony refused to refund them initially saying it was part of the manufacturing process etc etc .. . - the problems fixed now but u get the picture

I'm not to sure about that - My brother sent his PSP off because of the analog stick being jammed sideways (A problem that was entirely his fault as a result of the FIFA game) and they returned it in 6 days, with a new set of headphones as well.

yeah I called up sony and explained the problem I was having. The woman on the phone said that it wasn't normal and gave me the details for getting it sent off for warranty...

all they want me to send is the PSP and the charger I have to remove the battery and the memory stick before I send it and apparantly I hand in the docket over teh counter and austpost will package it appropriately and send it to my local service centre... and once it's recieved they'll E-mail me to let me know which is good. I'll still be requesting registered post and insurance as it's an expensive thing I'm handing over to Austpost's mercy... :S

If you want, you could meet up with me and I can replace it for you.

For a small price of course.

Some of the online servay show that about 50% of the Western PSP (Black) have got dead pixel issues.
Freind of mine recommend that you get a WHITE PSP (Japanese Model). The display is different. I have noticed that the colour is better. And my freind has commented that he's yet to see a Japanese PSP with Dead Pixels (not to say that their might be some other there)

I rarely use my Analog Stick. I perfer using the digital controller on most of the racing games I play. However I have noticed my Annalog Stick has a habbit of wanting to go Right from time to time.

Recently, my analog stick popped off. It's good to hear that Sony does not take to long on the turn around of RMAs. Will look at doing some thing about it next week.
