Well Iv'e had my NEW Dual 1800XP system now for nearly a week.
And i'd have to say in real terms it is not much faster for gaming, lets hope that SMP support works in the new quake engine of Unreal engine !. But in Windows the machine just flys, It's hard to get used to doing one thing, say burning a cd then having the freedom to play a game, or encode DIVX's, or do both it's quite impressive. So for me i'm never going back to a Single CPU option not after this Thanks for everyone's input over the last couple of weeks to get this setup, and i will post a PCDB entry shortly. Glad to see ya dual setup up and running ![]() Well, its not as fast for games, due to the way a dual cpu shares the memory bandwidth..etc, but for multitasking it rocks ![]() Ive got my Dual p2 350 booted up, now waiting for other parts to arrive so I can enjoy my dual-experience ![]()

Mmmm. Divx encoding. Really shows the power of SMP.
Gaming, meh, it's fast enough anyway. My feelings there: You'll never need 200fps in any game. And don't give me that BS about being able to play next-gen games, we both know that by then you'll have upgraded your hardware anyways. |
