Default Which internet connection would suit me best?

Gday, just need an internet recomendation.

Basically I am living in an apartment with no phone line, so ADSL is sort of out of the question since I will have to pay phone line rental, making it too expensive.

I am looking towards cable, can ppl recomend me which is the best cable connection for my needs, and the costs involved with it?

Looking for at least 512kbps, with around say 5gb/month download. And preferably 12 month or under contract.

Any recomendations would be greatly apprciated.

Thanks.

Maybe you can try wireless ISPs such as unwired.

Telstra or Optus are your only two choices for Cable. You can view their individual websites or go to Whirlpool.

Optus Cable plans: http://www.optus.com.au/portal/site/...0029a67c0aRCRD

Cable is 10Mbit (or ~17Mbit with Telstras new high speed one) and you'd need to get a cable outlet installed if there isnt one already (which is somewhat expensive) and maybe not possible in a unit anyway.

A wireless ISP may be your only option apart from dialup. Check out Whirlpool's Broadband Search tool www.whirlpool.net.au

Officially 17Mbps but many are exceeding that quite a bit.

If you don't have a cable line installed already, it'll probably cost more to get one than a phone line would. Most ISPs will give you a discount if you bundle a phone service with ADSL or mobile service. What's your budget?

Well the tilde in this context would normally mean close to 17, but actually quite a few people are exceeding 20Mbps and even quite a few up to 23-24Mbps
