Default Airport extreme compatibility

Hi all,

I've just purchased my second hand ibook G4 12" from ebay only to find that the thing it uses for wireless networking is external and really bulky and dumb (thanks Mr honest seller...) - it's called airport express.

So I'm looking at these Airport extreme cards, but I'm having difficulty finding out if they're compatible with my model of Mac (being completely new to the world of Apple - bear with me please!). From what I can gather I should be able to install it, but I thought I'd better check on OCAU just to make sure before blowing my ~$90.

Thanks guys

You'll experience no issues installing an Airport Extreme card into your iBook. Infact, it's very easy to do and shouldn't really take anymore than 5 minutes. If you're interested, iFixit has a step-by-step guide that explains the procedure for installing one. In addition, here are the Apple technical specifications and Apple compatibility list. The G4 iBook is defintely there, and I have an Airport Extreme card in my G4 iBook too.

Heh, not to worry. If he is nice enough he might. Legally he doesn't have to. That said, you can easily sell it for the same price you paid for it, maybe even a little more if you're lucky.
