Neo Geo Pocket

Anyone else own one of these? And what games are recommended? Should I get both metal slugs, etc? I probably will though.

I got mine today, (very minty, no marks on it at all), and it came with boxed versions of pacman and turf masters. So far I've just played pacman, and man, the ghosts cheat.

I also just bought a boxed sonic pocket adventures as well, so hopefully will get that soon. Pretty funny on that one, it was the only boxed one I could find on Ebay, and it was the cheapest, while all the rest were carts only.

sanjay, the gametraders up by us (Garden City Brisbane) had two of them just after launch (dunno if they are still there now) - they had a black and a semi translucent purple iirc. so try with them?

good idea - gametraders website has a list of everything each store has in stock around the nation...nope, nothing comes up

...i tells ya though, if someone miraculously sells one at work, and i see it in the cabinet, im buying it - 20% staff discount or no

I don't have a camera, so I can't take a picture of it.

It's solid light blue in colour, and yes, it's a 'color' system.

Why bother with the B&W ones? In fact, it's just about impossible to find the non color ones anyway now.

As for finding them, I got mine from the only place you can seem to get them, U.S Ebay.

Your current AU Ebay account will work just fine on any international Ebay sites. And it's damn handy having Paypal to use too. There's plenty there for sale, but it's not easy to find a mint condition 2nd hand one like I managed to get, as most of them are new and cost a fair bit, especially postage that some people want to charge. I paid $50-odd AUD in total for my system shipped.

Oh yea, as for the console itself, it runs off 2xAA batteries and has a standard button Li-ION backup battery that keeps scores and stuff.

Plus the little thumb joystick is great. You can actually hear the switches as you use it. No cheap contact pads here it seems. And it's easier to use than what the typical 4-way pad things you'd find on say, a gameboy have. You don't have to slightly keep lifting and moving then press your thumb to press the different directions, you just move your thumb instead.

Only thing is a lack of a screen light, but apparently that can be fixed. And I'm having no problems seeing the screen anyway when I play this on the train, AND I'm still wearing my sunglasses.

But only thing I'm dissapointed in is there seems to be no bubble bobble, only puzzle bobble, and I don't like that one. Ah well.

yeah i know my au ebay account works worldwide, its just the issue of finding a seller who will ship overseas.

im casually watching that one, whatdya think? probably go for a pretty high price considering all the rather rare accessories...and to be honest id rather grab a DS lite or some more PSP games

I'd find out what they'd want for postage, and depending on that compared to a new ones postage, I'd probably go $50USD max on it.

Plus if you ask them, some sellers will be glad to ship world wide. But I havn't found a problem with neo geos only shipping to the US. Most of the ones I see are world wide. Also check out UK Ebay, they're big on NGPC systems too, well, they seem to be.

okay; i just checked at gametraders garden city; if their site says they dont have any neo pocket (colours) they are talking thru their hindquarters. i have the pics on my phone - i dont have the software on my pc tho but i'll ugbox them when i can. one black; one purple (both carbon fibre look almost), have about 8 games there (a couple with multiple copies, Mslug 1st mission was one... ).

the only catch is it is NOT ebay; so if you really really want a pocket, it will cost you 149.99au for the privelege( + carts - i dint check cart costs tho).

i could have snapped them up to resell but i figured best to leave em there for them wot wants em.

i dont think youd have much chance reselling when theyre going for $50ish for brand new ones on ebay (just saw a couple today, along with a seller who is selling boxed neo geo pocket non-colour models!)

i DID say it 'wasnt ebay" right?

these WERE colour + boxed so /shrugs/ if someones desperate or something .. i did not check further but these didnt have 'preowned' stickers on them so they are i presume not s/h. being imports tho theres absolutely no way of telling how sec/hand or not they are, and the screens were mint so .... take that as you will.

i did remember the $50 on ebay thing - another reason why i dint try :P
