Default Personal Media Player type thing

Lately I have been doing a fair bit of 1-2 hour flights within WA. The planes used don't have any form of inflight entertainment. Therefore I want a Personal Media Player of some description.

My budget is aound $300-400
Battery life of around 3-4 hours would be good as well.
As much storage as possible would also be good.

I'm leaning towards an HP iPaq rx1950, but some of the review are not flattering of its video abilty.

Other than that, my knowledge of this area is sorely lacking.

Any ideas?

Well you could get a PDA as you are leaning to, however storage space is more limited on them.
Or you could get a media player device like an iPod Video which has much more storage for video/audio etc.

I recently bought the rx1950 and i am very pleased with it. Using wm9 encoder , i can encode a 20 min xvid sitcom into .wmv @ 225 bitrate and it looks quite good on the ipaq can highly recomend it

I got a watchable 30min cartoon down to 50mb and movies down to around 200mb or so. Encoded at 320x240 or whatever the standard PDA screen is.

1 vote for the ipod video 30gb model.

I have converted heaps of my DVD movies onto it and you can also connect it up to a TV.

PSP is another option, they tend to have a far better screen.

One of teh latest PC mags had a review of the rx1950 and reckoned it was pretty good, so I think I'll get one of those.

The latest PC User magazine has a bunch of programs on their cover disk for this sort of thing. I also think they have a better player than WMP

get a Creative Zen Vision M Player
its the ipod's rival, and it won best product or something this year for portable media player.

it can run heaps of file formats, as well as having a large capacity hdd like the ipod

Dell also has this on special on their website:

Dell™ Axim X51 520MHZ Wifi and Bluetooth

I like the iPod idea because of the video output. Although if you are travelling for work, you probably have a laptop to connect to the tv in hotel rooms. The PSP screen is nice but it is still the same res as the HP (I think). If the Creative Zen Vision had video output and was cheaper than the iPod, then

Isn't the ipod a bit out of your price range?
