Whats up guys -
With the departure of my desktop soon (i'm over it) im looking into some notebooks to buy. I was browsing Simline (an online store based in perth) and i came across this notebook. My rig at the moment is a gaming one, so i'm on the lookout for a laptop under $2500 that offers alot of gaming kick. Heres one that i found, i hope others can comment/give recommendations! http://www.simline.com.au/product.asp?prodid=6931 The things i like about this notebook: - it's not an intel - it doesnt have intel extreme graphics - it has a webcam + mic built into it Ta for all your comments ![]() Sean

I agree. Giving Intel the stiff just because you're an AMD fan is a silly thing to do when you're talking notebooks.
I say this after having bought nothing but AMD for my desktops ever since I started playing with computers, too.

Yep, the Pentium-M/Core architecture kicks some serious arse, though the Turion is catching up.
That said, ~$2300 is a very nice price for an Asus laptop with a X1600 Mobility. |

You're a fool not to go intel duo core... faster, cheaper or the same price, and less power consumption and better chipset support... cheaper prcied memory upgrades...
The only reason not to go Intel is if you definitely need 64bit support... (by the time Vista arrives.. you will need a new notebook anyway..) |

Yep, and a 2ghz Core Duo shits all over a 4000+ 64X2. Another vote for Intel

Okay, so who's going to find me a core duo notebook which comes with 1Gb of ram, a mobility X1600 and has a 15" or larger screen for $2,300?
I also want a 100Gb hard drive and a webcam/mic built into the screen like the vaio's. Yeah...... ^_^.Heck no, im not leaving this plugged in at home. Im planning to go to TAFE/uni and i wanna take this thing places, in the car, at friends houses. Im bored with my desktop system and im sick of spending ages packing/unpacking at lans. I like how ASUS made an entry level gaming notebook thats got all the things i want. _the_duke_ i've been AMD since the K6 days, so if you can find a notebook with the features im looking for that's a core duo then i'll be all over it.

I got a BenQ Joybook R53 v14 earlier in the year. This pretty much covers what you want. I too have been an AMD fanboy with desktops, but I still lean towards Intel in the notebook market.
1.73GHz PM 1GB DDR2 RAM 80GB HDD x600 Video 15.4" Widescreen LCD DVD-RW $1899
