Default Some Old Thing

G'day

My grandfather has come across some old Sony VAIO laptop. It looks about 3 years old ans supposedly has 80 gig of HDD and 256 mb of ram. I thought it would be a goof thing to have in my room so i can type and do schoolwork without having to reall leave my desk and schlepp my books across the house to my desktop. Although (The Problem) my grandfather has done some tricky thing and has converted the power plug (probably nothing big) and now it doesnt work.... Would anyone around happen to know a reliable store were i oculd get this laptop fixed up and ready for use (In Brisbane)? Or just somewere i could send it to in Australia that would make the repairs. It is definantly far out of warranty and RMA is no option either.

Cheers

I would suggest looking on Ebay for a laptop of the same model - but with a dead CPU/mainboard/GPU (because then it'll be virtually worthless, while still having plenty of good parts which can be salvaged).

Swap over the power plug if needed, as well as the keyboard (to fix your problem with the missing key) and any damaged body panels. Result = one almost perfect laptop.
