Default Thinking about buying..

Hey guys..

Im thinking about buying a mates old laptop..

Its a compaq presario x1000 with 15.4" wide aspect lcd, 512mb ram, 1.5ghz centrino, radeon 9200 mobility..

Is this a decent lappy? While i dont see it as a killer graphics computer, my machine is only an fx5700 w/ 1.6ghz XP.. How would this stack up against it?

Also i have no idea on price (nor does he..) so does anyone have any suggestions??

Those are decent specs. The Pentium-M 1.5Ghz will probably beat an XP1600+, but the Radeon Mobility 9200 is really slow (and has no DX9 support). For games like CS, it'll be fine; but in new games it'll have a lot of trouble (especially at the laptop's native resolution).

Since you can get a brand new laptop for around the $800 mark, I'd aim to spend maybe $600 as a maximum on a second-hand one.
