Default Upgrading a Laptop's CPU - Speed Increase?

I've got a fairly basic Compaq Presario Notebook with a 1.3GHz Celeron-M Processor. I've been looking at potentially upgrading the CPU to a Pentium-M which I think is doable with this notebook. Obviously I'll check this before I dive in! But assume it is for now. You could get the same model with the same motherboard and basic hardware with the 1.4GHz Pentium-M, so it's a safe bet. Trick is to get the thing appart without breaking anything...

Would I notice the difference between a Dothan 1.3GHz Celeron-M and a Dothan 1.5GHz Pentium-M?

My current Super Pi 1M Result is around 1 minute and 9 seconds with a few things open (does that make much of a difference?) but I can't seem to find any similar benchmarks on the 1.5GHz Pentium-M. Probably a silly way to compare, at any rate.

So, simply put... is it worth the hassle?

The Celeron-M processors do not have Speedstep, so you will undoubtedly notice the difference in terms of battery life at least.

I found some Dothan Pentium-M SuperPI scores, but I'm unsure how many are from actual laptops:

47.849 1.6GHz

45.816 1.8Ghz

39.469 2.0GHz

Are you regularly maxing the CPU at 100% for extended periods at the moment?

Cheers Pedro :-)

Something to check before taking the plunge is confirm (with the manufacturer or a repair centre most likely, someone with a service manual) whether or not your CPU is hard fixed to the mainboard.

Not all laptops have a removable CPU.
