I dont know where I picked this up from, but I've always had the impression that running a lappy on AC power would damage the battery due to over-charging or some such.
As I plan to buy a lappy as a psuedo desktop replacement, I thought i better get confirmation that i'm completely wrong here.

I recently read that if you're going to use a laptop for extended periods of time (longer than a few days in one stretch, for example) plugged into AC power and it has a Li-Ion battery, you should remove the battery and store it somewhere cool.
I'll see if I can dig up that article for you. [edit] http://www.macosxhints.com/article.p...30314081843218 [/edit]

Guess it also depends on how your notebook charges the battery. My IBM T43 for example will not charge the battery until it gets lower than some user set threshold. So I can afford to just leave it connected there all the time.
Another thing I have heard that heat can reduce the battery life too... so maybe me leaving it in there all the time is not such a great idea afterall. But I've had this notebook for about 6-8 months, battery seems more or less like the day I bought it.
