I currently have an Asus W5A laptop which I am thinking of upgrading in the next few months. I'm after a lightweight laptop - preferably around the 1.2kg mark with very good (preferably 6 hours) battery life and widescreen (doesn't really matter about screen size).
It must have a pcmcia slot (for iburst wireless connectivity). I've had a look at the sony ux50 upmc but it doesn't offer pcmcia slots, are there any other suggestions? Is there a pcmcia - usb converter that I can use for iburst? |

I was just about to suggest the flybook.
It's 1.2kg, has PCMCIA, and widescreen, but not sure about the battery life. Attractive tiny machines. http://www.flybook.biz/en/

Dell's just released the Latitude D420 here. They still don't have prices on their website, but you can always call and ask. It's 1.36kg (or about 1.5kg with the 7-hour battery) and it does have a PCMCIA slot.
EDIT: They also say that there's a dual-core version coming out before too long.
