Default Dell upgrades

Hey,

I heard from somewhere that if i change the hardware of the Dell i9300 or any Dell computer that i will lose the use of my windows as its a OEM or something like that.

I was planning to get more ram and put it in and i was wondering if i am gonna get any complications such as my windows not starting up, not being able to install my windows xp from my dell cd i got or anything like that.

Na it will be fine. I've upgraded the memory in my i9300 from 1GB (2x512MB) to 2GB (2x1GB) after I bought it. I am also about to drop a 7800Go GTX in to it this w/e

edit: just saw your thread on notebookforums too

Generally you can only upgrade the gfx card if it comes standard with a card & not on-board. Even then it's not always possible.

Yep that's pritty much it, the only reason you can upgrade the i9300 with a 7800Go GTX is because, for all intents and purpose it's identical to the XPS2/M170 (to the extent you can flash the i9300 with the XPS2 BIOS and have it work, which is needed for the 7800Go GTX to function fully)
